The end of soccer this year brought us right into the beginning of basketball. Shannon is playing on an AAU travel team and Eamon made the 8th grade team at Wilbur Pence Middle School. The boys have always asked for a basket ball goal on the driveway, but our driveway is on a hill, so it just was not feasible. (Unless you want to constantly chase balls down the hill). So, Craig came up with the idea of putting a basket ball court in our back yard. We began the process around Nov 10 and it has been a long slow process.
Week 1 - This is the "before" picture. Here you see the garden that will no longer be full of weeds.
Week 2 - When we decided to get started, the plan was to dig out the back yard. However, when Miss Utility came out to show us where utility lines are, we found out that we have some lines running right through the middle of our back yard. So, the first step was to see how deep the lines were. Thus, the 2 piles of dirt that you see.
Week 3 - Finally the excavation started. The ground was leveled as much as possible without getting deep enough to damage any utility lines.
Week 4 - Many loads of dirt were hauled into our back yard to level it out. It really has been a slow process. The weather has not cooperated very well. It seems as though the guys would get a day of work in and then it would rain. Then it would take several days of drying before any more work could be done.
To be continued.......
