Where did the summer go??

I finally got some spare time to down load some pictures and look at some blogs and I realized - I haven't posted a blog since July 3!!! Well, as I stated in the prior blog - the summer went too fast!!
Here are a few of our activities during the months of July and Aug:

Shannon was on the Ashby swim team this summer. He had some good friends that were also on the swim team, so it was lots of fun for him. Here he is with one of his best buddies, Finn. Shannon's favorite strokes to swim in the meets were the freestyle and the breast stroke.

Shannon spent his first full week at camp this summer. He had a great time!! Here he is with his cabin mates and his brave counselor, James.

Eamon also spent a week at camp and he also had a good time. He had a lot of soccer buddies at camp this year, and he also knew some people from camp last year.

Here is the butterfly that we "raised". One day at work, someone brought in some freshly picked carrots with the tops on. In the tops, we found 2 green caterpillars (or as my mom would say - worms). Someone said, "Carol, you should take them home for your boys". So, I did. I didn't like the green creatures myself, but I thought it would be interesting. I made the green caterpillars some comfy homes in glass jars and managed to keep them fed for 2 weeks. Then they somehow incased themselves in these brown cocoons. After about 2 more weeks, we finally had these 2 beautiful black swallowtail butterflies. It was neat to let them go and watch them fly for the first time in their life. One has to wonder - how do they know where to go???

Then, we come to the end of August and the end of summer. But, also the beginning of school. Here are my handsome boys on the first day. This year I am the proud mother of a 5th grader and an 8th grader. Both boys are at the top of the food chain this year :)

Well, that's a quick overview of some July and August happenings. I hope to blog again soon and tell you more about the Lowry events.
